Guuuuuyyyys, this was my first published book and it makes me feeeeeel things. Good things. Terrifying things. Like how I broke out in a cold sweat when I hit that publish button.
Good times.
Bas and Evie, man. I set out to write a surly, ANGRY demon trapped in a basement whose only chance of escape lies with a broken, beaten down werewolf. What I ended up with was a couple I STILL think about several years later.
Bas is certainly angry. He’s smart and crafty and he’s mad at himself for getting caught. He’s mad at his captor for imprisoning him. He’s mad at the quiet werewolf who hides herself away in the basement.
Then he comes face to face with her and the anger morphs into something a little more…earthy, shall we say?
For her part, Evie has reached her breaking point. Her father terrorizes and abuses her and none of the pack will step in to stop him. She’s resigned to what’s happening to her, but she’s not willing to let her father do the same to the demon he’s captured.
So she tries to help.
MAN, I love these two. While book 1 ends on a HFN, book 2 gives us more insight into Bas and Evie’s relationship. And book 3? It’s written and it’s coming. At some point.
Like I said, I couldn’t shake my angry demon and his broken wolf. Honestly, it’s not like I tried terribly hard, either.
