Ahh, yes. The kraken and the human. They don’t seem like they’d fit (literally, really), but they make it work.
Mikka was interesting to write. She was just sort of resigned to being found out and letting what will happen, happen. The closest I can come to describing her mindset is that she’s balancing on the edge of depression, and fighting for anything (even her own survival) feels too hard. Then she meets Lars and he gives her hope for a future and a real life.
As for Lars, he’s driven. He wants to protect the things that can’t protect themselves and keep them safe. As it turns out, sometimes the things that can’t protect themselves are massive sea creatures straight out of legend. Which isn’t to say Mikka didn’t have the ability for the aforementioned protection, but she had given up and…well, Lars isn’t down with that.
The kraken and the human. Oh, yeah!
