First Line Friday – Sanctuary

FLF-BlackI have such a soft spot for zombies. Well, not the zombies, exactly, but the circumstances surrounding zombies. Broken societies do it for me, okay? Meaning we’re revisiting the first book in the Stronghold series today!

The bruise on Liss’s hand looked like an elephant if she squinted and tilted her head. It ran from the base of her index and middle fingers down past her wrist. In some places it was such a deep purple it looked black.

Turning her hand slightly, Liss watched as the elephant became a long-necked giraffe.

If she hadn’t been in a panic at the time, it would almost be funny trying to figure out what shapes she could find in it. But the terror of grasping hands and gnashing teeth still rode her hard and there wasn’t much fun to be found.

Make sure you visit the other ladies sharing teasers from their WIPs… Amanda Shofner and Christi Snow.

Until next week!
