Cade, our hero, finally puts in an appearance. And he’s not bothered by Isobel’s crazy. Much.
To say Cade was surprised by the feral woman’s attack was putting it mildly.
She’d come out of nowhere, hands clawed and eyes wild. She’d painted her face with designs that he might have found interesting if he hadn’t been worried she’d rip his eyes out with those talons of hers.
The things she’d said. Screams full of hatred and anger. There’d been rage in them. Cade had never heard anything as terrifying as what had erupted from the small woman. Considering he’d spent the better part of a fortnight traveling here through the woods that was saying a lot.
The cursed wolves had nothing on the hellion currently plastered against the far wall.
She wasn’t screaming now. She watched him with the wariness of a wounded animal, the dying light highlighting the dark lines inked onto her skin.
