What I’m Reading – The Kindle Unlimited Edition

What I'm Reading

Okay, I’m going to get this out of the way first: I’m a fairly fast reader. Of course, fast is pretty subjective because what’s fast to one person isn’t necessarily fast to another, but I think I can hold my own when it comes to how quickly I go through books.

I only mention this because I signed up for Kindle Unlimited at the beginning-ish of the month. I don’t know why I waited this long…actually, I kind of do. I was trying to mentally weigh the monthly cost against what I’d realistically read. I mean, I have A LOT of books on my Kindle that I’ve already paid for, I should really get to those first, right?

Anyway. I signed up for Kindle Unlimited and…I’m kind of thrilled with how I’m able to zip through some series I started ages ago and had fallen behind on. Sure, sure, the books have to be enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited library, but there are SEVERAL authors I love who use it.

Geez. Just thinking about it is making me giddy.

I’ve been focusing mainly on Sci-Fi Romance and series I’ve fallen behind on, so this is a fairly genre-specific list with a few non-sci-fi books thrown in.

What have I been reading? you ask. Let me tell you.

Jock Row (Jock Hard #1) by Sara NeyIt all started with Jock Row by Sara Ney. I had read the prequel novella that came out earlier this year and liked it A LOT. I kinda expected I would, though, since Sara Ney’s Douchebag series is one of my favorite college athlete series. Jock Row switched the sport (wrestling in the Douchebag series, baseball in the Jock Hard series), but the books themselves are more about the people than the sport, so it worked. What can I say except I dig Ney’s cocky sports-guys and the women who challenge them.

After Jock Row, I realized the Cyborg Shifters series by Naomi Lucas was in KU and my world shifted on its axis. Not just because of that series, but because I realized a BUNCH of sci-fi romance series I wanted to read were. I might have made a few high-pitched squealing noises. I started with Storm Surge, went onto Shark Bite, followed by Mutt, and then Ashes and Metal, which means I am currently caught up on that series. It feels good to say that, man. It feels good. While the books themselves can be all over the place, it’s a good sort of all over. Engaging with cyborgs of a non-standard variety. I LIKE.

Umm…okay. I just realized if I detail every single book I read, this is going to be a long ass post. So I’m going to sum up a little more and detail out a little less.

Next up was the Galactic Gladiators series by Anna Hackett (I still have a few books to go in this one, as you’ll see). POSSESSIVE ALIEN GLADIATORS ON A DISTANT WORLD! LOOOOVE. I read books 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8 (yes, I read this series out of order originally. I do that sometimes.) with 2 books left to go.

Then there was the Dark Planet Warriors series by Anna Carven (I like sci-fi romance authors names Anna, I guess). Books 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 plus the 2 books out in the Darkstar Mercenaries spin-off. POSSESSIVE ALIEN WARRIORS WHO CAN’T HELP FALLING IN LOVE WITH EARTH WOMEN! Yassssssss!

There were a few other books sprinkled in there, but those are the bulk of what I read. When I do the math, the monthly cost for KU saved me A LOT of money. So much.

In other words, it’s totally worth it for me. So I’ll be sticking around until I finish up all the series I can get my hands on and collapse into a reading-induced coma.
