Looking back on March

Whew! Another month has come and gone. Let’s see what got accomplished in the world of Kelly Apple.

As February wound down, I was all set to devote March to writing the 6th Grimwood book. That, umm, didn’t happen. Thanks in large part to an unexpected foray into a sci-fi romance I was playing around with. Let’s just say that those mutant space rats and the woman who kept them at bay had a bigger story than I was expecting them to have.

I’m still not sure what I’ll be doing with that book (which has both a name and a series attached to it, btw), but it’s written and now it’s been put aside to age gracefully until I have enough distance from it to pick it up and be as critical as I need to be. (By the by, being critical of your own work is both VERY hard and VERY easy. ‘Tis a conundrum.)

March saw the release of Dream, the 3rd Forgotten Monsters book. Echo (book 4) has been submitted for preorder as of the writing of this post and I’m just waiting for it to go live on the different platforms. That SHOULD be by the end of the day, but some places take longer than others.

March also saw the final two Grimwood covers and blurbs go up. Book 5 is Fen’s story and book 6 is Lorianne and Alistair’s. I’m also working (slowly) on redoing the Monstrous Tales covers. Once I have the bulk of them done, I’ll share them with the masses.

April is a Camp NaNo month and I’m *cough* planning *cough* on working on Cursed Heart so I can get that off my to-do list. Be warned, sometimes plans don’t work out the way I think they will because my muse is a strange, fickle beast. Lately, she’s been obsessed with space rats and it could be tough wrangling her back to the project I really should be working on. Don’t worry, though, Cursed Heart WILL get written. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Here’s to a productive upcoming month!
